How do Binary Number work?

I learned how Binary Number work back 35 years ago.

At that time I was able to use them and get As in class but in looking back there is somthing very fundamental that you as young people, or older people learning somthing new need to know.

First I’ll do the drill like back in school where we learned that our normal way of counting was 1 thru 10 and then the teacher told us that instead of 1 thru 10 we would count 0 thru 9 because we had to only use 1 digit. If we wanted to count further then we would place a digit 1 to the left and begin counting back at 0. So our count would go 1 thru 9 then 10.
